Pillar 1: Functional Fitness

Movement is the foundation of wellness. In this first pillar, students explore how their bodies are designed to move—and how movement impacts every system from muscles and bones to the brain and immune system. Through hands-on lessons, science-based insights, and myth-busting industry truths, students will:

  • Discover how physical activity improves overall health, mood, and cognitive function

  • Learn how training and functional movement prepare the body for real-life demands

  • Understand how internal systems—like skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, and nervous—respond to consistent movement

  • Examine how inactivity affects health, from sitting too much to digital screen overload

  • Explore the truth behind fitness trends, social media influencers, and “quick-fix” promises

Goal: Students will build a strong foundation of knowledge and habits, empowering them to move with purpose, train safely, and understand how motion fuels lifelong health.

Pillar 2: Optimal Nourishment

Fueling the body for function and joy. In this pillar, students learn how nutrition directly impacts energy, growth, performance, and overall well-being. They’ll explore how food acts as both fuel and enjoyment, how hydration and nutrients work in the body, and how to build healthy, sustainable eating habits for life.

Through interactive lessons and real-world comparisons, students will:

  • Understand how whole foods fuel the body’s systems better than processed alternatives

  • Learn to read food labels and decode marketing buzzwords

  • Explore how to balance food as both fuel and fun—without guilt

  • Discover how water and electrolytes impact every function in the body

  • Dive into the essential roles of protein, carbohydrates, and fats

  • Identify fruits and vegetables as sources of critical micronutrients

  • Build smart snacking habits that support movement and mental clarity

  • Debunk unrealistic or harmful fitness industry messages about food and body image

Goal: Students will develop a realistic, science-backed understanding of how to nourish their bodies, with tools to make informed food and hydration choices that support physical and emotional health.

Pillar 3: Rest and Recovery

Wellness isn’t just about what you do—it’s also about how you rest. This pillar teaches students how recovery, rest, and sleep are essential to mental clarity, physical growth, emotional resilience, and injury prevention. As students move through this unit, they’ll gain tools to recharge, manage stress, and understand the science of rest.

Through thoughtful lessons and real-world application, students will:

  • Discover how sleep helps the body repair, regulate hormones, and support mood, energy, and immunity

  • Understand circadian rhythms, melatonin, adenosine, and teen sleep deprivation

  • Learn how rest and restful activities help the brain and body reset

  • Develop healthy routines to improve posture and prevent the toll of sitting and screens

  • Build skills to recognize and manage mental, emotional, and physical stress

  • Explore the benefits of stretching, flexibility, and injury prevention

  • Practice active recovery strategies like movement, circulation, foam rolling, and massage

  • Learn how food, hydration, and proper nutrition support recovery at the cellular level

  • Understand injury basics, inflammation, icing, and when to consult a medical professional

Goal: Students will learn that rest and recovery aren’t passive—they’re essential, active components of total wellness. By understanding sleep, stress, and physical restoration, students will build sustainable routines that keep them strong, focused, and well-balanced.

Pillar 4: Multiplied Maintenance

Health is not a phase—it’s a lifelong mindset. In this pillar, students learn how to build sustainable, long-term habits that extend far beyond physical health. Through goal setting, time management, self-awareness, and community support, they’ll explore how to make wellness a lifestyle that fuels their future and impacts others.

Through practical lessons, reflection, and planning strategies, students will:

  • Learn how to define personal purpose, set realistic health goals, and track sustainable progress

  • Explore the power of consistency and why quick fixes don’t lead to long-term success

  • Discover how community, accountability, and shared health goals multiply impact

  • Practice time management and scheduling to prioritize movement, nutrition, and rest

  • Understand the harm of comparison, social media pressure, and body image myths

  • Learn to create personalized sleep routines to improve rest and hormone balance

  • Decode food labels with a critical lens to make better nutrition decisions

  • Examine how screen time and media habits affect mental health and social relationships

  • Develop a stewardship mindset—recognizing that health isn’t just about self, but about being equipped to serve and uplift others

Goal: Students will walk away with a clear understanding of how to take ownership of their health journey—with vision, intentionality, and consistency—so they can live well and inspire others to do the same.

Additional Modules

Navigating life’s deeper challenges with wisdom and support. These extra modules address important, often sensitive topics that impact a student’s overall health—emotionally, socially, and physically. While they complement the rest of the F.O.R.M. Curriculum, they are offered separately so you can approach them with the care, timing, and parental communication that best fits your classroom.

In these modules, students will:

  • Explore the reproductive system and learn how to care for their bodies while understanding the benefits of abstinence and the emotional, social, and physical consequences of sex

  • Develop skills for navigating conflict, grief, and relational stress, learning practical steps for healthy communication, emotional regulation, and relationship repair

  • Gain awareness of substance abuse and addiction, from drugs and alcohol to screen time, social media, and other behavioral addictions, and discover how to replace harmful patterns with healthy routines

  • Strengthen emotional health, learning how to process and respond to emotions like stress, anxiety, and depression while building tools for resilience, support-seeking, and self-care

Goal: Students will develop life skills and emotional intelligence that equip them to handle real-world challenges with maturity, safety, and support—empowering them to thrive inside and outside the classroom.
